“Where have all the movie trailers gone?”
This is the question I asked myself as I was sitting on the couch and watching commercials. One might blame Apple Trailers for taking many of the television movie spots away, but isn’t Apple just adapting?
The silver screen hasn’t been forgotten in the evolution of communication. Movie studios employ so many communication tactics while promoting a film that no matter what communication medium you frequent, you will hear about the movie.
This is completely necessary, right? We have to know everything about these movies. How else will we know what we want to see? But what happened to seeing a movie to see a movie? I miss the days when I could walk into the theater and have no idea what I was going to see.
So which tactics are important and which are a lost cause? I need to know if another end-of-the-world movie is set to release in February, that’s important to me, but I’m not sure that I need to Tweet about it.
